As recently as a couple of years ago, the idea of a clean, environmentally-friendly off-road vehicle would have seemed absurd and out of the realm of possibility. However, the same people that brought you the diesel-powered RAM 1500 are about to bring another surprising car to the market: a diesel-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee. Powered by the much-loved EcoDiesel engine, the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel is the rare vehicle that can take you to where the trail ends and help the environment while doing it.
Here at Village Motors Inc., we are thrilled to have the new 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee arriving on our lot in the next few weeks. In the past, diesel engines in smaller vehicles were loud and expensive, but neither of those are true about the EcoDiesel. This Italian-made engine sports a compacted graphite iron block and all-aluminum twin-cam heads. The V6 brings to the table common-rail injection, a 15.5:1 compression ratio, and ceramic glow plugs that heat up in record time. Thanks to this cutting-edge engineering, the EcoDiesel is able to crank out a smooth 240 horsepower and 420 pound-per-foot of torque.
When equipped with the optional four-wheel-drive, the EcoDiesel can tow up to 7,200 pounds. Another huge advantage of the EcoDiesel is that it gives drivers 28 miles per gallon on the highway, as well as a tank range of 730 miles. If you want the maximum amount of interior opulence to go along with the fuel-sipping engine, we’d highly recommend choosing the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited trim. This luxurious trim comes standard with a nine-speaker surround sound system with a subwoofer, as well as an 8.4-inch touchscreen display.
