It’s been over three months since the Jeep® Gladiator originally debuted at the LA Auto Show. The model is set to compete as a midsize pickup truck when it becomes available this fall. The Chicago Auto Show allowed us to take another peak at the Wrangler-like truck before then!
When rumors first spread about the 2020 Jeep Gladiator, it was referred to as a Wrangler pickup truck. The Jeep truck does, in fact, offer a unique wagoneer appearance, and it’s built with four doors and offers the ability to seat five.
Like most Jeep SUVs, the Jeep Gladiator flaunts its off-roading capability on any terrain. Through mud, snow, sand, and water, the Jeep Gladiator makes its way effortlessly. In fact, the truck can drive through up to 30 inches of water. The main thing that distinguishes the Jeep Gladiator from the Jeep Wrangler in terms of capability is its towing capacity. The truck can tow up to 7,650 lb, which also happens to be a best-in-class rating.
Initially, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator will offer one engine option: a powerful 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 285 horsepower. It will be available with either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic, depending on the buyer’s choice. A diesel powertrain is set to be available in 2020. The two available trim levels so far are Sport and Rubicon.
You may think that a rough-and-tough ride like the Jeep Gladiator is focused solely on performance, but that’s not the case for this new Jeep truck. It offers impressive safety assist systems and a rocking infotainment system with Uconnect®. The vehicle will be even equipped with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ as standard amenities.
